Belly Dance
Welcome one and all to Belly Dance! For years, ladies (and gentlemen) of many backgrounds have used the art of dance combined with coy smiles, undulating hips, and sexy rhythms to entrance crowds. Originating in the Middle East, this art has taken on various forms of flamboyant dress, styles, and combinations, using moves such as hip twists, shimmies, and body rolls that are found everywhere the dance is practiced. This year, we will lean towards tribal fusion belly dance, with influence from hip-hop, modern dance, and non-traditional music. While we can't claim to have mastered the dance ourselves, we look forward to honing our craft with anyone willing to join us! Show all of Wash U that you and your hips don't lie!
NOTE: Please wear a sports bra or a form fitting shirt to auditions so we can better see your movements.
